SOLD at Perth bull sales Oct 2009 at Stirling Agricultural Centre.

Lorna is out of a female line which i have much admired, she goes back to her grand-dam on the female line,Neills Bacardi, who was Supreme Charolais Champion at the Carlisle Christmas Cracker Sale,a huge heifer which later sold for 7,000gns to the late George McIlwraith,Balig Farm,Ayr who along with my father have been my biggest mentors on the philosphy of breeding cattle.I was very fortunate to be able, prior to the Dunure dispersal, to buy her privately.

On the sire side she is by a bull Thrunton Damien, sold at Perth for 8500gns,he was a bull i very much admired on the sale day and has gone on to become a very good breeder of both females and males.Lorna again has the qualities that our policy dictates for a female: length, height, head, huge muzzle, quarters, teat size on good solid legs. She has excellent fertility and very easy calving, thank goodness, as she can be quite tempramental after calving!

Unfortunately she has only had bull calves and the only heifer calf that she has had died at 8 weeks old with pneumonia,we have sold bull calves out of her up to 8000gns.I just wish i could get a heifer to keep this great female line going! Her son Falleninch Balig is the the best bull calf she has had and a real prospect as a future stock sire! Falleninch Balig was sold at Perth Feb bull sales for 8000gns to Chantal Harron for her Chantwill Charolais herd in Nr.Ireland.

To date Dunure Lorna's calves have averaged £6000.
